…not only my place of employment, but also my home.
On March 16th , the Axe House temporarily closed its doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions put in place by the government. Myself and my fellow coaches have been spending our days at home, just like everyone else. Some of my coaches have made at home targets to keep practicing their skills and trick shots, which brings me both tears of joy and sorrow. I miss the smell of fresh cut pine boards and the sounds of bullseyes and laughter from our loyal customers.
With tournaments and leagues cancelled until we can open again, I wait with bated breath to turn the key in the door that is not only my place of employment, but also my home. If there is anything that I have learned in the past 43 days (who’s counting?) has taught me is how much axe throwing and the beautiful community that comes with it has brought me so much joy. From the moment that a customer sticks it for the first time, to when they return for league and beyond is one of the most rewarding experiences. We don’t just teach our customers a new skill but that they are involved in something so much greater, community. It doesn’t matter if you are walking through our doors for the first time or every day, you get a feeling of belonging. It is this community that we all seem to be craving during this pandemic. We have stood strong through tough times and we will continue to remain strong so that we come back better than ever!
We understand that coming back will be a slow, yet necessary process, but be assured that we will be there to support the community as a whole. We will continue to make cleanliness a priority and will be implementing any social distancing as recommended by state officials. We want to make sure that our customers feel safe and not have to worry. We want you to have fun as that is our priority.
So, what do we have in store for when we re-open? Co-Ed and Women’s leagues with resume with 8 weeks of competition and fun and outdoor axe throwing lanes for the summer weather (don’t forget those closed toed shoes). We are also planning on doing some community work with tournaments to raise funds for local charities.
The Axe House staff misses everyone terribly and we hope to see you all soon!
Stay safe and healthy!
