Nicholas Stacy

On the evening of September 3, 2023 our cousin Nick Stacy developed an acute unexpected life-threatening medical emergency, causing immediate kidney failure and cardiac arrest. He was transported by our outstanding Agawam EMT and Paramedic team to Baystate Medical Center. He was admitted to the Baystate Intensive Care Unit immediately from the emergency room, and he was started on dialysis to get his kidneys to start functioning. The next evening, he developed another medical crisis and had to go into emergency surgery.

It has been quite a journey for Nick with lots of ups and downs since then. Nick was making a lot of progress, and he was going to be transferred out of the intensive care unit, until he took a sudden turn for the worse on October 19, 2023. On that afternoon, he went into another surgery and has required eight more since. Nick will need more surgeries over the next couple of weeks and continues to fight. His kidneys have started to function on their own, which is a huge step in the right direction. Once Nick is finished with the surgeries and he is stabilized, our hope is to get him out of the ICU and eventually transferred to an impatient rehabilitation.

Doug and Robin Stacy never expected to go through anything like this with their only child. They have remained so strong and positive since the beginning. They are so thankful for the outstanding team of doctors, nurses and PCT's at Baystate Medical Center that have been involved in his care. The dedication and support from his entire team has been simply amazing.

We are holding this event in hopes to help Doug and Robin with the medical expenses that are and will be associated with Nick's care. They have been very generous to everyone in the Agawam community and are the last people to ask for anything.

We'd like to give back to them and help in any way that we can. Doug and Robin are so appreciative of all the love, support, thoughts and prayers that they are receiving from family, friends and their community. The support has been very helpful and has given them strength to get through this devastating time.

Nick has made some progress, but he still has a very long way to go. He is a fighter with a lot of strength and determination, and we are confident that he will pull through this. We thank you for the continued support and appreciate any help you can give to the Stacy family.
